Tap

TAP (Levels I-V, ages 8+)

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sound of one's tap shoes hitting the floor as a percussive instrument. As such, it is also commonly considered to be a form of music. Students will learn basic tap steps set to fun upbeat music.  Tap classes allow students to create rhythms through foot articulation in an enjoyable atmosphere. At the developmental level, tap reinforces rhythm concepts.  As dancers progress, steps will get increasingly more intricate and complex rhythm patterns will be explored.

Advancement is based on correct placement, skill mastery, and instructor recommendation-not by age-which means all classes have a variety of age levels. Students spend an average of two years at each level before mastering the skills to advance. Students receive annual skills tests.
