Hip-Hop

HIP-HOP (Levels I-V, ages 8+)

Hip-hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of styles primarily breaking, locking, and popping which were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States.  Students will learn basic hip hop steps set to age appropriate hip hop music.  As dancers progress, steps will get increasingly more difficult and intricate.

Advancement is based on correct placement, skill mastery, and instructor recommendation-not by age-which means all classes have a variety of age levels. Students spend an average of two years at each level before mastering the skills to advance. Students receive annual skills tests.
